ABOUT OUR
DENTAL ASSISTANT PROGRAM
COYS Dental Academy is a trade school where we teach you dental assistant information. It is a 12 week blended format course that is lectured based. The lecture portion of the course material (book reading, homework, tests) are expected to be completed on your own time. You are to report to our facility 3 days per week for 12 weeks where you'll receive all hands on training. Our course is great for the hands on learner.
There are 4 tests throughout the program that are associated to specific chapters from the textbook. These are the actual state exams. There will be no final exam or state board exam at the end of the program. Your state certification tests are included in the 12 weeks.

We are certified by The Pennsylvania Board of Dentistry, licensed by the Department of Education, Commission for Independent Education Lic #2157 to provide your State Dental Assistant Certifications. These are a requirement in order to be a dental assistant in the state of Pennsylvania.

Once you complete the 12 week program you will begin the clinical portion of our program. This requires you to complete a 150 hour (minimum 3 month) externship with a licensed Pennsylvania dentist of your choice. You have 3 – 12 months to complete your externship. This is scheduled directly between you and the dentist you have chosen. Once you complete the 12 week course and your 150 hour externship you will then receive your 2 Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) State Certifications for Dental Assisting (and a Dental X-ray Certificate) at no additional cost. This is all included in the cost of our course.

DENTAL ASSISTANT COURSE DETAILS
Let us help you start a career as a Dental Assistant. The curriculum is designed to prepare the graduate with the necessary skills for entry-level employment. The student will learn procedures that are performed in a dental office and receive training on how to perform tasks related to a dental assistant position. Students will receive training in the preparation of patient treatment, x-ray processing, sterilization, scheduling appointments and patient chart management.

Being a female instructor in a male dominant industry means I work just as hard as everyone else. Let me briefly tell you about myself. I have over 29 Years of experience in the Dental Field. I attended Harcum College Dental Assistant Program and graduated in 1997. I completed my State Board Certification DANB in 1997 and I was RHS Licensed in 1998. I enjoy educating and grooming my students so they are ready for employment in the Dental Field in as little as 12 weeks.
